Group Committee

Group Committee Bylaw 4007

3rd Meadowvale's Group Committee is comprised of Parents and Leaders. The input of our sponsor (Rotary) is also strongly encouraged. These volunteers and our sponsor form a management team responsible for meeting the needs of all of 3rd Meadowvale's Beaver, Cub and Scout sections. They conduct the business of the group’s sections, within the guidelines of Scouting’s By-Laws, Policies, and Procedures, as well as provincial and local policies.

Depending on the position, Group Committee members spend approximately 4-16 hours per week handling group business. Group Committee members are elected. The elections for each Scouting year are usually held in spring of this year.

Group Committees are formed to assist Group Commissioners in servicing and supporting Groups. Group Commissioners need not do everything themselves. Part of their responsibility includes assessing the needs of the Group, determining the amount of work to be done and, if necessary, building a team to ensure that all tasks/responsibilities are achieved.

Every year we are looking for individuals to volunteer their time to fill the following Council positions: (Click on the individual posts for job descriptions)

  1. Group Commissioner (12 to 16 hours per month on average)
  2. Group Administrator (8 to 10 hours per month on average)
  3. Registrar (4 to 6 hours per month, with a heavier time commitment during the registration period)
  4. Treasurer (4 to 6 hours per month on average)
  5. Secretary (4 to 6 hours per month on average)
  6. Webmaster

Time guidelines are as per Scouts Canada.

If you feel you have the appropriate qualifications and are therefore interested in one of the foregoing positions you are both welcome and encouraged to contact our Current Volunteer Group Commissioner.
